#Skinfit2016 | How to choose your perfect statement lip colour

What a difference a lip makes! A banging statement lip will have you feeling fierce with minimal effort. Let me just get one thing straight: A statement lip doesn’t have to be a red lip. There’s so many shades to choose from it’s a good idea to experiment to see what suits you better! Get my tips on how to choose the lip that's perfectly YOU here.

Today’s look is a nod to the nude hues seen on the catwalk in the European autumn/winter 2015 shows, that focuses on ‘smart, flattering and functional look’ – basically, a more natural beauty to emphasise your best features and last all day.  It’s totally wearable, everyday chic that will take you from office to party with minimal fuss – always en pointe. It’s all about the glow this Summer and Gigi Hadid leads the pack in #skingoals.

Re-create Patrick Ta’s epic bronzed look that's perfect for hot days and balmy summer nights. Keep your foundation dewy with a mid coverage CC cream (see my review above of my favs) and then turn up the wattage on the highlight!

HOW TO DO IT

Skin is your main focus here and this look can be created a range of illuminating products, such as Benefit Cosmetics cult classic, High Beam, that imparts a subtle pink toned lustre to the skin. Becca also brings some light to the party with her cream Shimmering Skin Perfector in Opal, which has a more golden hue for those rockin' a tan or our more olive-skinned sisters.

Make sure you add a healthy flush to the cheeks for a barely blushing look. I like Benefit's Sugarbomb peach tones and MAC's Warm Soul blush to give me a hint of colour without detracting from the strobe effect. For chiseled cheek bones, sculpt gently (!) with NARS’ famous Laguna bronzer.

If you want to up the ante, you can add even more light with MAC Cosmetics’ Soft’n’gentle Highlight powder or keep Becca in the loop with the pressed Shimmering Skin Perfector.

Eyes are understated here with some soft bronze and earthy tones and lashings of mascara to make them pop in the most demure way. Add slick of nude gloss from NARS - Chihuahua is a light peach tone that has more bubble than bite, and off you go!

The trick is to start slowly and add more as you need it. Like I always say,

“Highlight like the sun kissed your skin, not like a shiny disco ball smacked you in the face!”
