Have you ever felt that some days are just a struggle? It’s hard enough to get out of bed, let alone get dressed and primped to perfection. Try doing that with a tribe of five boys under 15 years whilst owning a successful CrossFit.

Natalie Sengchanh takes it all in her stride. Meeting this ball of sunshine since my first day of high-school, she is (and has always been) perennially positive. Her glow is infectious and that smile - beaming…It’s hard to imagine her ever feeling flustered and you can’t help but feel like life really is good when you are around her. Oh, and did I mention the girl can sing? Is there NOTHING this superwoman can’t do? With a crazy household of boys and a business that’s all about empowering others, I was intrigued to know how she makes it all work and still makes time for herself to feel like “a natural woman”.

“CrossFit Manly Vale is a place where regular people train at extraordinary levels. It is a community environment where our members and coaches are supportive of one another within and outside of the gym. It is a place built around the love of CrossFit, a love of family and a love of our community. We have five children of our own and understand the importance of living a healthy family lifestyle. Due to this we also run kids and teens classes that support a healthy and active lifestyle in order for young people to have a positive self-image.

I help our clients feel good by starting a positive conversation with them, supporting their triumphs and those times they may not be feeling one hundred percent. My husband is a brilliant CrossFit coach and goes the extra mile to get to know each client and understand his or her physical goals. Together, we work on a plan to achieve them.

I spend a lot of time in the sun living on the Northern Beaches so I am outdoors and in the water. My staple beauty regime is simple but protective. I love Nivea moisturiser because it’s thick. My Oral B Braun electric toothbrush is a must-have for dental hygeine (so important for confidence when you flash those pearly whites). I use Cancer Council SPF 30 Sunscreen, which I apply and reapply everyday no matter what the weather looks like outside. Sun damage is irreparable so it's best to protect your skin. I love Pantene Pro V Shampoo and Conditioner for the fresh smell and how shiny and clean it makes my hair. On my face I use SkinCeuticals Sheer Physical UV Defense SPF 50, which has a slight tint. It allows me to skip the foundation but give my skin have an even tone whilst protecting it from UV rays.

For me, feeling “skin fit” means setting aside some time each day for me - whether that means to do a CrossFit workout, ocean swim or meditation. It all contributes to my mind body and spirit. It also means literally taking the best care of my skin and nutrition. I try to eat whole foods and drink at least two litres of water a day, this helps my skin look vibrant and blemish-free.

I have so many beauty blunders! Looking back on photos of me from the 90s I’m remembering wearing foundation that was five shades too light for my skin, paired with chocolate and maroon lipstick *cringe*! I have definitely learned that ‘less is more’ in my 30’s.

I believe that in order for you to feel good about yourself you need to be actively involved in something you enjoy and love. Through participating in CrossFit and ocean swimming helps my body be fit and strong. This confidence in turn helps me have a positive self-image.

My nutrition and exercise go hand in hand in supporting my beauty goals. It can begin with writing down a goal and working towards it. For example, last year I wanted to participate in ocean swimming. However, I wasn't a great swimmer. I decided to swim at the local pool and nine months later I swam from Manly to Shelly Beach and back (1.5kms). I have been doing the swim now since September last year. I have logged all my swims and have now completed a total of 81 kilometers. This achievement makes me feel amazing!

I use beauty products that enhance my features and compliment and give nutrition to my skin. It is easier to apply makeup to flawless skin than it is to apply concealers and primers to cover up blemishes and pimples. So, I make sure I eat well and pay attention to how my body and skin reacts to what I put into it. And of course, using the right skincare products to keep skin healthy is important also.
